The National Park Service has compiled 3,360 pages of materials on the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest single day in American history. These include research reports, guides, handbooks, regional histories, design plans, lesson plans, and structural reports.

Fought on September 17, 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland, and Antietam Creek, the battle involved Union General George B. McClellan and Confederate General Robert E. Lee. With 22,717 casualties (killed, wounded, or missing), it marked a significant turning point against the Confederacy during the Civil War.
